The meticulously honed and sculpted profile of the 600LT Spider has been formed by a clear purpose. To increase aerodynamic efficiency and channel air for cooling. This is a true Longtail… with a rear that’s 47mm longer than the 570S. It’s made this way to increase downforce. Which transforms stability in fast corners. Menacing and purposeful. Each curve, edge and surface is shaped to perform. Lower the roof and you can savour the exhilaration of open top driving taken to new heights. But roof up or roof down… the 600LT Spider is always making maximum use of airflow. Come rain or shine. On the road or track.
A Light Touch
Built on the exceptional carbon MonoCell II monocoque ‘tub’, the 600LT is incredibly strong. But it is also light… extraordinarily light. In the pursuit of shaving weight off the car our engineers left no nut or bolt unturned. They found weight savings right across the car. From the wheels to the seats. And from the Lightweight Alcantara® used to cover many of the surfaces to the touchscreen infotainment system that removes the need for heavier switches. We even removed the carpets and door pockets.
Unrestrained Performance
One drive and you’ll understand. The 600LT Spider is every bit as performance-focused as the 600LT Coupe. It shares the same wild 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and super-fast Inertia Push gearshifts. You’ll find the same powerful, responsive braking system and seamless Active Dynamics. And performance figures that need to be experienced to be appreciated. But now you can get even closer to the true essence of LT and the relentless performance that defines it. Drop the roof – or simply the glazed wind deflector – to enjoy the crack and pop of each gearshift. And the full roar of that radical top exit exhaust.
Intense Specification
The McLaren 600LT Spider shares the same pumped-up 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the 600LT Coupe. Which means its power is boosted with an extra 30PS and 20Nm of torque. It also comes with the same super-fast Inertia Push gearshifts. The same Active Dynamics for pin-sharp handling. Not to mention the same powerful, responsive braking system – which you’ll also find in the McLaren 720S. The result? The 600LT Spider takes just 2.9 seconds to reach 62mph – the same as the 600LT Coupe. And achieves an incredible 201mph (324kph) top speed. Longtail. a Thriller.
The first Longtail was forged in the heat of endurance racing. As a hugely successful evolution of the Le Mans winning McLaren F1 GTR. It took the 1997 FIA GT Championship by storm. In fact, it came first and second in the GT1 class at Le Mans that year. The Legend returned in 2015, with the launch of the uncompromising McLaren 675LT Coupe – at the time, our purest and most engaging sports car to date. This limited edition icon sold out fast. And so did the mould-breaking McLaren 675LT Spider version that followed. Just as exclusive. Just as powerfully intense.
